Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez of California
is sponsoring a bill called
"The US and the World Education Act."
This bill would train teachers and promote the teaching of more international issues so that the next generation of Americans can be prepared for a global economy.
But for this bill to pass we need your help.
Please write a letter to your congress person to ask for his/her support of this important legislation.

Has your mom ever nagged you to clean your room? All the time I bet. But guess what? Our parents' generation has left us a mess millions of times worse than our dirty rooms. Global warming, industrial pollution, famine, drought, war, and child labor are just a few of the problems we will have to tackle. We cannot wait for them to act. We kids need to do something about this right now. We need to demand that our schools teach us about these big issues that we will have to solve if we are to have a world to enjoy for our generation.

What's taught in schools now? Yeah, they teach us how to fill in bubbles all day. They teach us ways to find the right answer. I got news for you-the world is not a multiple choice test. As my good friend, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, says, "Kids need skills to succeed in a globally connected world. They need skills that wil help them get good jobs and solve big problems."

If you care about our world. If you want an education that will teach us about world issues and help us prepare for the world economy, write to congress so that they will pass The US and the World Education Act. Get your parents to write too. It's time to nag them for a change. After all, its our world, too.

Dear Congressman xxxxxx,

My name is xxxxxx and I am a student at xxxxxxx school in xxxxxx.  I am writing to you because I am upset about the mess the adult generation has left for us kids to clean up.

Global warming, industrial pollution, draught, famine, genetic engineering, energy, and the War in Iraq are just a few of the problems that we will have to be prepared to face.  We need to learn about these issues right now or it will be too late to do anything about them.

Thats why I am urging you to support The US and the World Education Act."  The bill will help bring international issues into the class room. It will help train our teachers so they can teach us about the challenges and opportunities that will be part of our future.

In the 1950s, teachers were encouraged to bring big issues like the Space Race and Sputnik right into the class room. These issues got students excited about learning and created a whole generation of scientists and creative people who helped our country prosper.

I think we can move our country forward again by passing the Us and the World Act.

My future depends on it.
